Location: Australia and New Zealand
Vessel: Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) with Main Engine up to 1500 kW

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and industrious Second Engineer (2/E) to join our trailing suction hopper dredger vessel operating in Australia and New Zealand. The Second Engineer will support the Chief Engineer (C/E) in managing and maintaining all vessel engine systems, including main and auxiliary engines, propulsion, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage engine watch, ensuring optimal dredging operations and compliance with environmental standards.
  • Conduct regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs to optimize vessel performance and prevent downtime.
  • Adhere to international and national regulations and company policies.
  • Oversee stock control of fuel, oils, and spare parts; safely receive bunkers and lubricating oil.
  • Coordinate repair plans for equipment failures and maintain detailed logs and records.
  • Assist in docking operations.
  • Actively participate in emergency responses.
  • Train new engineers and apprentices.
  • Report to the Chief Engineer on all safety and environmental matters related to vessel operation.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Competency: (Any of the following)
    • III/2 – Chief engineer and second engineer on ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW propulsion power or more
    • III/3 – Chief engineer and second engineer on ships powered by main propulsion machinery of between 750 kW and 3,000 kW propulsion power
