Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and industrious Trainee Chief Officer to join our trailing suction hopper dredger vessel operating in Australia and New Zealand. You must be skill in maneuvering and navigation, as we are operating in shallow waters in areas with high density of other vessels. The Trainee Chief Officer will support the Chief Officer (C/O) in vessel safety, environmental compliance and vessel operation. After minimum 6 months of dredging experience, the Trainee can expect a promotion to Chief Officer (C/O) position, depending on Master's evaluation.

Chief Officer's Key Responsibilities:

  • Bridge watch.
  • Overseeing optimal dredging operation.
  • Vessel maneuvering.
  • Ensuring adherence to all maritime laws and company policies.
  • Planning voyages on Master guidance.
  • Maintains navigation instruments.
  • Update logbooks.
  • Managing deck maintenance.
  • Ensure all safety and environmental equipment is operational.
  • Training of new crew members
  • Conducting safety drills and managing emergency situations

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Competency:
    • II/2 – Chief Mate up to 3000 gross tonnage or without limitation
  • GMDSS General Radio Operator (IV/2)
  • Medical Certificate
