Cairns Shipping Development Project
In 2019, Rohde Nielsen was awarded a contract by the client “Ports North”.
The Cairns Shipping Development Project included deepening and widening of the harbor and entrance channel located at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Rohde Nielsen carried out the project complying with environmental threshold values amongst the severest in the world.
The dredging works were carried out whilst maintaining the daily operation of the port uninterrupted, with traffic in terms of cruise ships, navy vessels, bulk cargo ships and large pleasure crafts servicing Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
