Wikinger OWF, Boulder Removal

Seabed Boulder Removal

The site of this project is the Wikinger OWF between Bornholm and Rügen. The scope of work was to move 22 pcs of boulders in preparation for the arrival of a jackup vessel to repair a wind turbine generator (WTG).

Prior to commencing the boulder removal, the area for the jack-up vessel was surveyed to identify the boulders. The area to be relocated was also surveyed to establish the pre-start situation.

The boulders were identified and moved one by one to the relocation area without lifting them out of the water. Once the 22 boulders had been relocated, both the jack-up area and the relocation area were surveyed to document the successful relocation of all the boulders and a safe jackup area for the jack-up vessel.
