Lillebælt Old Bridge

Scour protection

Rohde Nielsen was awarded a contract for the installation of 2,100 tons of rock intended for erosion protection at pile no.2 of the Old Bridge in Lillebælt, Denmark. The rock material was sourced from the Mandal quarry in Norway, under the production of Dansk Natursten. The entire quantity of rocks procured amounted to approximately 2,100 tons. Utilizing the crane aboard the multi-purpose offshore vessel Grane R, all rocks were efficiently loaded onto the vessel, with the loading process concluding on November 28th.

Following the completion of loading operations, the vessel Grane R promptly set course for Lillebælt to commence immediate installation upon arrival. Upon reaching the designated location in Lillebælt, an initial survey was conducted, after which installation activities promptly commenced.

The installation process, inclusive of subsequent surveys for quality assurance, was successfully completed and approved within the following day. Post-completion, the Grane R was then mobilized to a shipyard in Grenaa for necessary modifications in preparation for her next project.
